Exam Pattern
The SSC (Staff Selection Commission) conducts various exams, such as SSC CGL, CHSL, CPO, MTS, etc., each having a distinct exam pattern.
SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level)
Tier-I (Preliminary Exam):
- Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test)
- Duration: 1 Hour
- Number of Questions: 100
- Total Marks: 200
- Sections:
- General Intelligence and Reasoning (25 questions, 50 marks)
- General Awareness (25 questions, 50 marks)
- Quantitative Aptitude (25 questions, 50 marks)
- English Comprehension (25 questions, 50 marks)
- Negative Marking: 0.50 for each wrong answer.
Tier-II (Mains Exam):
- Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test)
- Papers:
- Paper-I: Quantitative Abilities (100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours)
- Paper-II: English Language and Comprehension (200 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours)
- Paper-III: Statistics (100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours) (Only for certain posts)
- Paper-IV: General Studies (Finance and Economics) (100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours) (Only for specific posts)
Tier-III (Descriptive Paper):
- Mode: Pen and Paper
- Duration: 1 Hour
- Marks: 100
- Type: Essay, Letter/Application Writing.
Tier-IV (Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test):
- Only for specific posts like Tax Assistants (DEST) or ASO (CPT).
SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level)
Tier-I (Preliminary Exam):
- Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test)
- Duration: 1 Hour
- Number of Questions: 100
- Total Marks: 200
- Sections: Same as SSC CGL Tier-I.
- Negative Marking: 0.50 for each wrong answer.
Tier-II (Descriptive Paper):
- Mode: Pen and Paper
- Duration: 1 Hour
- Marks: 100
- Type: Essay and Letter Writing.
Tier-III (Skill Test/Typing Test):
- Skill Test: Data entry speed of 8000 Key Depressions per hour for Data Entry Operator (DEO).
- Typing Test: 35 words per minute (WPM) in English or 30 WPM in Hindi.
SSC CPO (Central Police Organization)
Paper-I (Preliminary Exam):
- Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test)
- Duration: 2 Hours
- Number of Questions: 200
- Total Marks: 200
- Sections:
- General Intelligence and Reasoning (50 questions, 50 marks)
- General Knowledge and General Awareness (50 questions, 50 marks)
- Quantitative Aptitude (50 questions, 50 marks)
- English Comprehension (50 questions, 50 marks)
- Negative Marking: 0.25 for each wrong answer.
Physical Endurance Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST):
- Conducted for qualifying candidates to test physical fitness.
Paper-II (English Language & Comprehension):
- Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test)
- Duration: 2 Hours
- Number of Questions: 200
- Total Marks: 200.
Medical Examination:
- Conducted for shortlisted candidates.
SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff)
Session-I:
- Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test)
- Duration: 45 minutes
- Subjects:
- Numerical and Mathematical Ability (20 marks)
- Reasoning Ability and Problem-Solving (20 marks)
Session-II:
- Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test)
- Duration: 45 minutes
- Subjects:
- General Awareness (25 marks)
- English Language and Comprehension (25 marks)
Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
- Conducted for specific categories like Havaldar.
